India Skipper Virat Kohli spent a brilliant year as he ended up 2,735 (with 11th hundred) international runs across all formats in the current calendar year, registered the highest runs by any batsmen.
This is the third successive year as he was the highest run-getter, scored 2,595 in 2016, 2,818 runs in 2017 and 2,735 in 2018.
It arises no curiosity to anyone that Virat once again leading run scorer a year in international cricket. He introduced another milestone after the 137-run win at the historic Melbourne Cricket Ground as he equalled Sourav Ganguly’s record of 11 away Test wins as captain.
India always find themselves struggling during foreign surface particularly in test format but the first time they seem to be changed under the captaincy of Virat Kohli.
During the recent past ODI series at home against the West Indies, Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record to become the fastest to score 10,000 ODI runs and only the fourth batsman to reach the milestone for India.
He registered 25th hundred during the Perth Test. He also became the second fastest batsmen to reach the milestone in 127 innings, just behind the great Don Bradman, who took a mere 68 innings to score 25 Test hundreds. It was Kohli’s seventh Test hundred vs Australia
On the way to this milestone, Kohli added another feather to his cap the only Indian skipper to score 2000 Test runs in away matches. He is also the first Indian captain scored 2000 Test runs both in India and overseas soil.
Such has been Virat Kohli’s year he passed in 2018 across all format!
